This afternoon we headed to the Kings Theatre Portsmouth to see Peppa Pig's Big Family Show, and while Mason has sadly grown out of Peppa Pig these days, our lovely little friend Scarlett is a huge fan, so she was absolutely delighted to come along and give us her verdict from a little one's perspective!
The latest Peppa adventure follows Peppa and her family as they prepare for a very exciting new arrival. Audiences are introduced to baby Evie, the newest member of the Pig family, in a heartwarming story packed full of music, dancing, audience participation and plenty of bubbles!
The show is split into two parts, with the first half focusing on the family getting everything ready for baby Evie's arrival. From preparing the nursery to making sure everything is in place, it's a lovely build-up that keeps little ones engaged throughout.
After the interval, the story fast-forwards a few months and we get to meet baby Evie properly as she is welcomed into the world. Much of the second half centres around her exciting first milestones, which brought lots of smiles and giggles from the audience.
Scarlett absolutely loved every minute and barely took her eyes off the stage. The familiar characters, catchy songs and colourful set kept her completely captivated from start to finish.
One thing we always love about preschool theatre shows is how relaxed they are. Nobody expects little ones to sit perfectly still, and children are actively encouraged to join in, dance along and get involved. The atmosphere was lovely, with lots of excited youngsters singing, laughing and interacting with the characters.
If you have a Peppa Pig fan in your house, this show is an absolute must-see. It's a fantastic introduction to live theatre, full of fun, laughter and memorable moments that the whole family can enjoy together. From the colourful staging to the interactive elements, it's easy to see why Peppa continues to be such a favourite with preschool audiences.
